Bloody Petrol

This morning I filled my tank for the record price of $47 ! I remember not much more than a year ago filling the same tank up for around $32 ! Aff and I worked out that we drive about 30 km per day in Canberra. In Melbourne last year, I worked out that my average per week car usage was around 60km/week, as compared with around 210km/week in Canberra - so yes, things are a little different here.

I found three out of about 15 petrol stations offering fuel at $1.24 the others were $1.38

Even though I still had a 1/4 of a tank I filled up for just under $50.

I think I might have to dust off the bike.

Yes, according to a report in The Age I read yesterday, most of these petrol stations were apparently charging more than they needed to. I have never been one to shop around for fuel, but things are at that stage where it really does make a difference.

The other side to all of this is that it does make you question the usage of your car. If people are dusting off their bikes, and deciding not to buy the big fuel guzzling cars (thogh I do sympathise with all the petrol head bogans out there), then there is a very possitive side to the increase in oil prices.

Yeah, I'm cryinjg crocodile tears when it costs me $7 to fill up the scooter...;)

That's not quite as good as it sounds, because the range is quite short (particularly the way I use the throttle as an on-off switch). I end up getting around 4 litres per 100 kilometres.

But then again, Rex uses three times as much fuel in urban conditions, and uses premium instead of standard. I'm still laughing :)
