Master Macca

I interrupt regular programming (i.e. crapping on) for some shameless self congratulation (because let's be honest, what else is a blog for):

I have just been informed that my Masters thesis, alluringly titled:

Performance of Optical Flow Techniques for Mobile Robot Navigation

has been passed.

Woo - bloody - Hoo!

It only took them 5 months to read it.

Woohoo!!!!!

And you get to wear a mortarboard when you graduate - much cooler than the floppy bonnet, if you ask me :)

Macca, do you remember what Peter Stuckey said after we started honours?

That " that undergraduates are useless, because they don't contribute anything. That honours students are a tiny bit useful. That masters students are reasonably useful. And that PhD students are really useful."

Well, congratulations on successfully completing something reasonably useful. And good luck with the work on something really useful.

thanks for the memories Russ - currently the most useful thing I am involved with is my on-going "automatic cat feeder from old milk cartons" project, which continues to be plagued by design problems (and the assumption that a cat knows when to stop eating)!

Chris, the only time a cat is nice to someone is when it wants something. Why waste the love on old milk cartons?

yeah, but the only time I am nice to a cat is when its not bothering me because its hungry.

Congratulations Chris. I've just received my corrections back from my examiners, and I'm in the process of not doing anything about them just at the moment. I have to resubmit by the end of September. I'm trying to sort out a combined MSc/BA graduation ceremony, although that means I probably won't get to wear the royal blue - I'll be stuck with olive again. Perhaps we can arrange to graduate on the same day.

PS. Everyone knows that the capital of El Salvador is San Salvador.

Yippee-do-dah! Well done, Chris! I hope that you are celebrating in due proportion to the achievement.

I have a website: www.buggeroffspammers.com

It pretty much covers annoying intrusive comments-related stuff.

Maybe a few of your visitors should check it out sometime?

thanks guys.

Mick - I think we should definitely talk to our people, and make sure we pull the gown and mortarboard on together.

Mel - I think you scared the spammers away :)
